Tina Fey strikes again!!

A grown-up-ish conversation

It's such a strange feeling to see your 3.75-year-old talking on the phone like this. Background: Andy is going to be Superman for Halloween; Bryn will be Supergirl. Discussion ensues.

Trip to the zoo

This is Andy's Flamingo Dance (notice the strange knee moves):

Zoomazium!
This is a video screen, but it's pretty convincing!

Push ... or be dragged

Rattlesnake Lake

It was a gorgeous September day, so we went looking for somewhere new to explore, and ended up at Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend. There were lots of stumps and rocks for Andy to climb (here, roaring like a lion).

Sylvia is doing her queen/parade wave.
Okay, lots of photos of Sylvia, since we were hanging out while the boys were climbing!

Saturday

Oh baby!

Sylvia's loving her new doll - she carries it around the living room, hugs it, pretends to feed it, etc. This being my first girl, it's a whole new experience to watch a barely one-year-old act maternal!

Isn't this the most beautiful thing?

I meant the sleeping, not the kids.

Something that pisses me off

Do you ever feel like your doctor is thinking five patients ahead when you're talking to her? Have you had that moment when you realize she has NO memory of your medical history, as she glances through your chart while you're sitting there, eating away at precious minutes of your time together? Or worse, no memory of your child's history? Have you ever Googled a medical condition because it's just that much more effective than calling the doctor's office?

When did we become our own doctors?

Happy Birthday Sylvia!

Good morning birthday girl!
(eating bunny-shaped cardamom bread -- "pulla" -- from Great Grandma Helvi)
We had a great party for Syvlia, with family and close friends. With a butterfly theme, I had to make her - what else? - a butterfly cake.
Sylvia's big birthday moment: the birthday song and cake!

She wasn't quite sure what to do with the cake...
...how about feeding daddy!

And finally, she'd had enough!Andy and Bryn, the older sibs, being silly.
I think this was a contest to see who could yell the loudest? (along with Bryn and Andy, that's Sara and Mike's Pheobe and Andy's cousin Katie)
Time for presents! Syliva got lots of help!

Opening a card and gifs from her brother: a book and a Chomper stuffed toy (for those who don't follow Land Before Time, it's a tiny purple T-Rex).
Look at my little blondie on the left!
This photo is a little fuzzy, but she's so happy when she's with her dad, and she looks so grown up here!
My cousin's son, Ian, who also turned 1 this month!

At the end of the day, after the guests were mostly gone, Sylvia got into the sand box in a big way -- she loved taking handfulls of sand and wiping it all over shirt and dress. You go girl!

Party's over. Hard to believe my little baby is a baby no more.
All clean! Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Golden Gardens and a New(ish) Bike!

We spent last weekend at Golden Gardens playing at the beach. On the way to the beach, we stopped at Goodwill and picked up Andy's first real bike, a Batman bike, with training wheels!
Note the flag on his back - he wore it around like a cape for a few days. And yes, that's a pajama top.
