Breakdancing old school

Andy tries to do the worm!

Chocolate faces

We all had toffuti chocolate ice cream sandwiches ... Sylvia wore a bit more on her face and nose than the rest of us!
The kids have been spending a lot of time with Uncle Ray, Shawn's uncle, who is painting the house as we prep to put it on the market. It's taken him so much time to scrape the old paint off that he's had lots of time to get to know the kids better. Bonus for us!

Uncle Ray has taught the kids to do the old ear-pull-tongue-out shtick. Here it is...

Look at this scary monster kid!

Sylvia's first haircut

At 19.5 months, Sylvia finally got her first haircut. Here, pre-cut, a little bit wild and crazy... Not one single tear, just fascination with these girly toys, something she doesn't see at home!
Getting her first "product" -- including sparkles.
Our curly-haired sweetie.
All done!
Andy got a cut too - he went first to demonstrate how not scary it is.
Andy took control of the camera for a bit!

New PJs

Andy got some brand new PJs from Sue, and he insists that they're made of metal and that he is a Transformer. The planets are buttons. It really puts a nice spin on life, to see how happy some new pjs can make a person! Helping Sylvia drive the Smart Cycle (he spins the petals with his hands and she steers - it's great sibling teamwork!). After she came in third (last) place, he said "good job Sylvia, you got 1st place! What a good driver you are!"

Easter

On Easter's eve, Andy was very excited to go straight to bed so that the Easter bunny could come ... but the more he thought about it, the more he started talking about not being able to close his eyes. He finally admitted he was "concerned" and "nervous" about the Easter bunny being in his room. He ultimately decided he didn't want the Easter bunny to come -- not even to fill baskets at the top of the stairs rather than his room -- and he asked me to put a note on the front door that said: "Easter bunny: Not this year, thanks." Here he is, worrying...he imagined opening his eyes to see a giant rabbit facing away from him. That IS scary!

Easter morning! (The Easter bunny came after all, despite Andy's note...)

Cereal

Beach antics

A trip to the beach at Carkeek with Daddy.

Sylvia found some shells, which she calls her "babies"...

Bye-bye blue jay

We had a blue jay couple nesting in our yard for a week or two. They seem to have moved on to someone else's yard -- no doubt one where kids don't follow them around yelling "bye bye blue jay!"
